Abstract

ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) is a highly fatal condition if it is characterized by complications. Prolonged ischemia duration is the most important condition that prepares the ground for mechanical complications, especially myocardial rupture. Left ventricular (LV) pseudoaneurysm is a condition that occurs when the ruptured myocardium is surrounded and bordered by adherent pericardial or scar tissue. It is more frequently associated with inferior myocardial infarction (MI). Currently, the probability of LV pseudoaneurysm after STEMI is less than 0.1%.

A 58-year-old male patient hospitalized with subacute anterior MI was treated with percutaneous coronary intervention. The diagnosis was confirmed by contrastenhanced CT after echocardiography of the patient after coronary angiography revealed a pseudoaneurysm consistent appearance in the LV apical region. Then, surgical excision of the aneurysm was planned.Left ventricular pseudoaneurysm and left ventricular thrombus are a rare but life-threatening complication of myocardial infarction in a patient presenting with acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction. The diagnosis of pseudoaneurysm can be easily made by imaging methods in the presence of clinical suspicion. Post-diagnosis surgical intervention is life-saving in most patients
